Eligibility
- Applicants should usually be nationals of the following countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen; and a resident in one of the aforementioned countries, with the exception of refugees/asylum-seekers. Applicants with dual citizenship will not be considered.
- Applicants must provide evidence of academic, research and/or professional merit (demonstrated through reference letters) and demonstration of future promise (demonstrated through a letter of intent, interviews, and other required essays).
- Proof of financial need is also required.
- Applicants must already be granted acceptance on a Master’s programme at one of our partner/listed universities.
- Applicants must not have obtained a degree outside the MENA region.
Supported Fields
- Public Health, Health, and Medical Sciences (e.g. Epidemiology, Genetic Science, Biostatistics, Clinical Degrees, etc.)
- Applied Science, Technology, and Engineering (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, etc.; excludes Architecture)
- Law (excludes Corporate Law)
Please Note: Priority is afforded to fields of health, genetics, energy, computer science, telecommunications, water, agriculture, and law.
Current Programmes
AlThuraya Cambridge Scholarship
Since March 2017, we’ve offered MENA Scholarships in partnership with the Cambridge Trust to fund students studying for a Master’s degree at the University of Cambridge.
AlThuraya JHSPH Scholarship
As of March 2020, our MENA Scholarships are attainable at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland.
AlThuraya MENA Scholarship
Outside our main programmes, we also welcome applications for partial scholarships from distinguished students.
