AlThuraya Public Health Scholarships at John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health

Eligibility for AlThuraya Public Health Programme
- Applicants should usually be nationals of the following countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen; and a resident in one of the aforementioned countries, with the exception of refugees/asylum-seekers. Applicants with dual citizenship will not be considered.
- Applicants must provide evidence of academic, research and/or professional merit (demonstrated through reference letters) and demonstration of future promise (demonstrated through a letter of intent, interviews, and other required essays).
- Proof of financial need is also required.
- Applicants must already be granted acceptance on a Master’s programme at one of our partner/listed universities.
- Applicants must not have obtained a degree outside the MENA region.

Once you receive an offer to study for a Master’s degree at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, please email us at apply@althurayafoundation.org for further steps. The title of the email must include "AlThuraya Public Health Scholarship" and its content must include:
- Letter(s) of Acceptance
- A Transcript
- A CV
- Details of Other Awarded Scholarships/Financial Aid as well as Financial Ability (include the Gap in Funding to be Met).*
If you are eligible for the AlThuraya Public Health Scholarship, we may provide a letter of support which may increase your chances of attaining other scholarships offered by JHSPH.
Please Note
All applicants to the Bloomberg School of Public Health are considered for a scholarship and applicants who are also recipients of one of these awarded scholarships will be prioritised to receive the AlThuraya Public Health Scholarship. A list of featured scholarships can be found here.
Recipients of the following awards will be prioritised:
- The Peter Salama Refugee MPH Scholarship in Humanitarian Health – This scholarship is awarded to one displaced student per year from Afghanistan, Myanmar, South Sudan, Syria, and Venezuela. Only recipients of Syrian nationality will be considered for the AlThuraya Public Health Scholarship. The Peter Salama Refugee MPH Scholarship covers full tuition. AlThuraya Public Health Scholarship would cover the stipend.
- Health Security MPH Scholarship (Separate Application Required) – This scholarship is awarded to two students per year with an interest in health security and public health emergencies.
